Viñedos de Páganos

Viñedos de Páganos is one of the exclusive wineries of Sierra Cantabria, located in the village of Páganos in Rioja Alavesa, amidst dolmens, archaeological sites, and ancient chapels. The winery was founded in 1998 by Marcos and Miguel Eguren and is carved into the rock. The Eguren brothers' goal with Viñedos de Páganos is to produce terroir-specific wines that belong to the top tier of Rioja.

The area is predominantly influenced by an Atlantic climate, although it has continental nuances due to its shelter from the cold northern winds characteristic of the Sierra Cantabria. The soils of the Viñedos de Páganos estate consist of calcareous clay and loam with a sandstone subsoil, giving the vineyard—and therefore its wines—a unique mineral personality.

The Tempranillo is perfectly adapted to these soils and beautifully reflects the terroir in which the vineyard is planted.

The El Puntido (25 ha) and La Nieta (1.75 ha) vineyards of Viñedos de Páganos are located in the Rioja Alavesa region. These wines are awarded 95+ points by major wine critics such as Parker and Guia Peñin almost every year.
