Massolino
The Azienda Agricola Massolino winery was founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino in the village of Serralunga d'Alba, located in the heart of the Langhe in Piedmont. Giovanni was a progressive farmer who not only laid the foundations for the family business but also played a significant role in the development of his village. For instance, he was co-responsible for the installation of the electricity supply in Serralunga d’Alba, which was remarkably progressive at the time.
After him, the estate was further developed by the second generation, Giuseppe Massolino and his sister Angela Massolino. They expanded the vineyards and strengthened the estate's reputation as a producer of quality wines from the Barolo region. During this period, the family also acquired plots in Vigna Rionda, one of the most prestigious cru vineyards in the area.
From the 1970s onwards, Franco Massolino and Roberto Massolino took over the management of the estate. They modernized the cellar and emphasized precise grape selection and the production of Barolos from specific vineyards. Thanks to this approach, Massolino grew into an internationally appreciated producer of classic, elegant Barolo.
Today, the family business is still led by the Massolino family, including Franco, Roberto, and Paola Massolino. The estate owns approximately 25 hectares of vineyards, mainly around Serralunga d’Alba, with important crus such as Vigna Rionda, Margheria, and Parafada. Massolino wines are known for their classic style, powerful structure, and great aging potential, making them among the most respected Barolos in the region.
