The Accornero family has been making wine with great passion and dedication for four generations. The winery was founded by great-grandfather Bartolomeo, born in 1839.
This estate grows Barbera and the traditional, yet little-known, Grignolino grape. Grignolino produces light-colored red wines that can sometimes be surprisingly firm. However, the main grape remains Barbera, which is produced in four different cuvées.
All wines come from their own vineyards. Barbera has soft tannins and often appears more seductive than Nebbiolo in its youth. However, overproduction can dilute the taste to such an extent that the high natural acids become painfully exposed. In cheap, commercial Barbera wines, this is sometimes masked with a bit of residual sugar. Fortunately, Accornero does not participate in this. They make honest, pure wines with a focus on their fruit. Barbera at its best!
