The Canoso family has always believed in the quality of the wine produced in the hills of Monteforte d'Alpone. They have had orchards and vineyards here since 1876 and used to sell wine in large quantities to markets in Northern Italy. Their production of approximately 70,000 bottles per year is characterized by a combination of tradition and the quality guarantee provided by ultra-modern facilities. They pay meticulous attention to every step of the production process, from the vineyard to the bottle. The red wines are aged in barriques, French tonneaux, and large Slavonian casks to give the tannins elegance.
Today, the company cultivates 12 hectares in the hills (between 90 and 290 meters) on various plots, mostly facing southeast. One of these is the Cà del Vento vineyard, which surrounds the winery, received Cru recognition in 2019, and is exclusively owned by the Canoso winery. Primarily Garganega and Trebbiano are grown, as well as Incrocio Manzoni, an increasingly popular grape variety that Canoso has been using for several years in its Bianco Veronese. The vineyards are between 20 and 45 years old. The Guyot system is gradually replacing the traditional Veronese pergola, which reduces production but improves quality. Most of the work in the vineyard, including the harvest, is done by hand.
