The history of Juvé & Camps spans more than two centuries and four generations, evolving from a local winegrower into a global authority on Gran Reserva Cava.
The family's roots date back to 1796, when Joan Juvé Mir laid the first foundations as a forward-thinking winegrower in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. His son, Antoni Juvé Escaiola, led the family business through the devastating phylloxera epidemic and was committed to the replanting of vineyards in the Penedès region.
In 1921, the founder's grandson, Joan Juvé Baqués, together with his wife Teresa Camps Ferrer, launched the first sparkling wine under the Juvé brand name. During the 70s and 80s, the house positioned itself as a pioneer of long-aged Cavas, with the birth of the iconic Reserva de la Familia in 1976. Originally intended only for the family's own use, it grew to become the best-selling Gran Reserva Brut Nature in the world. Due to its great success, the family began construction in 1991 on the ultra-modern winery in Espiells, the heart of their vineyards. Recent decades have been defined by organic viticulture and further specialization, with official organic certification in 2015, one of the first within the Cava appellation.
Currently, this top estate is led by Meritxell Juvé, the fourth generation. Their wines are recognized worldwide and are the standard choice for official state banquets of the Spanish royal family.
