Coudoulet de Beaucastel Red
Côtes du Rhône, France
|
Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault
The Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rouge is often considered the “little brother” of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Château de Beaucastel. The vineyards are located just outside the appellation boundary of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, on the same characteristic soil of rounded pebbles (galets roulés), which gives the wine remarkable depth and complexity.
The wine is composed of a classic Southern Rhône blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color with purple reflections. The bouquet opens with aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as cherries, blackberries, and plums, complemented by notes of spices, white pepper, garrigue, liquorice, and subtle toasted nuances.
On the palate, the wine is rich, supple, and perfectly balanced. Ripe black fruit, black cherry jam, and Mediterranean herbs are supported by soft, velvety tannins and a fresh undertone that provides elegance. The finish is long, aromatic, and slightly spicy, with a beautiful mineral tension.
