LePlan-Vermeersch
1975… Without any diploma, without any prospect of a decent job, but as immensely enthusiastic as ever, Dirk Vermeersch, then a young taxi driver, dreams above all of a career in motorsport. Barely two years after starting in local races with his brother's borrowed VW Polo, he wins the 24 Hours of Zolder in that same year and is a reserve driver on the winning car in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. From then on, he is a full-time racing driver. After a long and successful motorsport career, fate strikes. A serious rally accident in 1986 puts an end to his racing activities.
He takes a step back and throws himself into running a gas station where he also deals in used cars. The quiet dream of becoming a distributor for a top brand becomes a reality just three years later. Dirk becomes an official Lancia and Maserati dealer in Schilde, near Antwerp. In 1999, he manages to sell the dealership for a good price. Retirement beckons.
Except that Dirk cannot sit still. First, he picks up a ruin in the South of France, then he starts a construction company to renovate the ruin into one of the most beautiful and largest buildings in the region. A third dream comes true: Dirk, his charming wife Hélène, and daughter Ann run a B&B together in Provence. Next to the ruin lies a small plot of old Carignan vines winking at him. As a consummate autodidact, Dirk enthusiastically begins pruning and plowing. Before his family realizes it, Dirk is a full-time winemaker and realizes a fourth dream. His first LePlan GT-S-2003 is awarded 2 stars in the Guide Hachette des Vins, and Robert Parker, the famous American "Wine Advocate," gives 95/100 points to Dirk's first LePlan GT-1 Chateauneuf-du-Pape… The rest is history…
