Wine importer Miguel Sánchez's journey to Atauta was a stroke of luck for the entire region. While passing through the Ribera del Duero, he discovered the small valley with its ancient, abandoned vineyards, wine cellars over 400 years old, primordial cellar vaults, and even 13th-century stone wine presses that were still intact. A dormant wine wonderland. The eastern part of the D.O. was known for being difficult to cultivate, as the vines are situated at a significant altitude of nearly 1,000 meters. Miguel Sánchez came, saw, and conquered: the youngest Tempranillo vines are 60 years old, and the oldest are up to 160 years old—truly incredible. An immense wealth! They immediately yielded extraordinarily beautiful results once the overgrown plots were brought back to life.
With the release of the first wines, it immediately became clear that these were not only among the best wines in the country, but in the entire world! The strictly organic wines, raised separately plot by plot, belong to the best ever produced from the Tempranillo grape variety.
