Coca i Fitó is a Spanish wine project founded by brothers Toni Coca and Miquel Coca, two winemakers from Catalonia with a strong background in the world of wine. The project originated in 2006 from their shared vision to create wines that clearly reflect the character of the terroir and Mediterranean culture.
The Coca family has had ties to viticulture for generations. Toni Coca worked for many years as an oenologist and consultant for various wineries in Spain and other wine regions. Thanks to this international experience, he developed broad expertise in winemaking techniques and grape varieties. Together with his brother Miquel, he eventually decided to start his own wine project where they could apply their personal philosophy.
Coca i Fitó began in the Catalan region of Montsant, where the brothers worked with old vineyards primarily planted with Garnacha and Carignan. Their goal was to make powerful yet balanced wines that reflect the Mediterranean landscape and the region’s mineral soils. They chose an approach centered on respect for nature and terroir, with minimal intervention in the cellar.
Following the success of their first wines, the project expanded to other regions. This led to the creation of Coca i Fitó Ribera del Duero, where they work with Tempranillo from high-altitude vineyards. In addition, they developed projects in Terra Alta and Priorat, each with the same philosophy: to craft wines that showcase the identity of their origin as purely as possible.
Over the years, Coca i Fitó has grown into a respected winery within the modern Spanish wine world. Their wines are internationally appreciated for combining tradition with a contemporary vision of winemaking. The focus remains on terroir, authenticity, and allowing the grape and the soil to speak for themselves.
