This Gevrey-Chambertin is an elegant expression of Pinot Noir from the prestigious Côte de Nuits, a region known for powerful yet refined red Burgundies. For this wine, the estate works with parcels in the Les Evocelles and Les Seuvrées climats, where approximately fifty-year-old vines grow on clay-limestone soils with a south to south-westerly exposure.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red color. The aroma opens with ripe cherries, blackcurrants, and wild raspberries, followed by subtle hints of violets, spices, and a touch of forest floor. As the wine matures, more complex nuances of leather, undergrowth, and spices develop.
Vinification is carried out entirely with destemmed grapes, followed by 12 to 14 months of aging in Burgundian oak barrels, of which approximately 30% is new wood. This gives the wine extra depth without overpowering the fruit.
On the palate, this Gevrey-Chambertin combines power with finesse: a concentrated fruit core, refined tannins, and a beautiful mineral tension ensure a long, harmonious finish. It is a wine that offers plenty of charm while young, but develops even more complexity and elegance with a few years of cellar aging.
